I would like to receive some feed-back on the curriculum issue of keyboarding instruction. If 5th grade SOL's require basic keyboarding skills to complete word processed documents, where is the keyboarding instruction taking place.--how delivered, length of time, materials used, who's responsible.

We are replying to your message on the Standards of Learning Discussion Board concerning keyboarding instruction for students.
The Computer/Technology Standards of Learning specify the minimum skills that students should acquire at different grade levels. How the instruction is delivered, the length of time provided, and materials used are entirely local responsibilities.
If additional information is needed at the state level, please get in touch with Mr. Lan Neugent, assistant superintendent for Technology in the Virginia Department of Education, P.O. Box 2120, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2120; telephone (804) 786-2260.
Thank you.
