THOMAS B. STANLEY (1890-1970)
Served 1954-1958, Democrat

Governor Stanley served as Speaker of the House of Delegates before being elected to Congress and then to the Governorship. A Henry County furniture manufacturer, he improved the administration of state hospitals and increased funding for public schools and mental hospitals, during his term as Governor.
