Upgrading From V3.6 Evaluation

If you installed the evaluation version of Information Server V3.6, Agent Server V1.11, and Verity Spider V3.6, and you have since obtained a fully registered license key, then you will need to use the Information Server License Manager to enter the new license information. License Manager is part of the Information Server administration.

NOTE: If your evaluation period has expired, you will still have access to the License Manager. Information Server, Agent Server and Verity Spider are licensed separately, with Information Server and Agent Server sharing the same license key.

If you do not choose to license Agent Server, it will no longer be available for evaluation. If you do not choose to upgrade the Verity Spider, it will only be able to web crawl the local host. File system indexing of the local host and any network accessbile site will remain. To evaluate Agent Server once you have licensed Information Server, you must install a new evaluation version of Information Server to a different machine.

To upgrade to a fully licensed version , do the following:

: 1. Contact your Verity sales representative for an upgrade license key.
: Make sure you specify whether or not you are also licensing SEARCH'97 Agent Server V1.11. If you are not, then the evaluation version will cease to function once you update the license key for Information Server.
: If you are also upgrading the Verity spider license, you will need to obtain a Verity spider license upgrade key. For more information, see "Upgrading the Verity Spider License" later in these notes.
: 2. Click the Host Manager button on the menu bar, and then click the License button (if you are using frames), or the Update License Keys hyperlink (if you are not using frames).
: 3. On the Update License page, select Information Server and enter the three parts of the new license key. Optionally, select Universal Spider and enter the Verity spider license upgrade key.
: 4. Click Update to enable the new license key(s). Remember, if you did not also license Agent Server, it will no longer be available.
: 5. Restart your Web server.
