About Virginia.gov

Virginia.gov is a public private partnership established between Enterprise Applications Division (EAD), a division of the Virginia Information Technology Agency’s (VITA), and Virginia Interactive. Virginia Interactive, a subsidiary of NIC, manages the commonwealth’s portal and brands and markets eGovernment websites and services as Virginia.gov.

The primary goal of Virginia.gov is to positively transform the relationships between citizens and government by utilizing the Internet to provide a more efficient method for obtaining information and services. 

The Virginia.gov team provides web design and application development, enterprise solutions and hosting services to state agencies, localities and other Virginia government entities. Virginia.gov has incorporated best practices for web interfaces in the design of over 150 sites for government entities and in the development of over 100 web based services for Virginia citizens.

The Portal’s Creative Content Team creates professional web designs that reflect each entity's unique culture and vision as well as the Commonwealth's standards for usability and accessibility.  Virginia.gov’s Project Managers and Application Developers have worked with government entity partners to create, enhance and maintain a variety of eGovernment applications, including record verification services, licensing and registration systems, bulk data downloads, eCommerce and payment services.  Virginia.gov’s expertise in marketing increases awareness of eGovernment services to ensure their success.
