Managed Ongoing Awareness Tools (MOAT)
Under the COV ITRM Standard SEC501-0 (pdf), "Each Agency must establish and maintain information technology security awareness programs to ensure that individuals are aware of their security responsibilities and knows how to fulfill them." The partnership between Awareity, Virginia.gov, and VITA provides an interactive, web-based security awareness training program customized for agencies or localities that is a simple, convenient, and cost-effective means to Security Awareness compliance.
Customizable policies can be assigned to individual departments/divisions affected by the policy, or assigned globally to all agency/locality users. MOAT provides printable progress reports identifying all users who have successfully completed certification requirements, when they certified and when those certifications will expire. Security Awareness modules are updated annually so agencies and localities do not have to maintain or manage content. MOAT also provides automatic reminders to users regarding upcoming or past due certifications.
