Progressing into the Future Together with $4Kids
Overview:
The Department of Social Services partnered with Virginia Interactive for their new electronic child support payment service, $4Kids. The secure web based service and interactive voice response (IVR) system enables employers, non-custodial parents (NCP) and individuals paying on behalf of NCPs to remit ACH child support payments.
Innovation Factors:
The new $4Kids service has several advantages designed to help save the Department of Social Services (DSS) time and money while providing citizens with opportunity submit payment electronically 24 hours a day/7days a week through a secured website, IVR or mobile phone.
- Streamlined user experience online and IVR
- Improved data accuracy and integrity

- Automated email confirmation notification upon submission of payment
- Ability to make payment via mobile phones
- Integrated dynamic reporting capability
Performance Indicators:
- 2,900 total active users registered to process payments within the first month
- Within the first week, 1,600 payments where processed for a total of $320,000 dollars
- 11,000 total payments processed in the first three months for a total of $1.9M dollars
- Featured on the national State EFT/EDI Child Support Payment conference in January 2010
