The Department of Accounts (DOA) is a central service agency providing a uniform system of accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls to protect and account for the Commonwealth’s financial resources.

Department of Accounts' Financial Reporting includes preparation of three annual financial reports, three Financial Statement Directives and the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards for inclusion in the Statewide Single Audit Report. Virginia has produced a GAAP-basis report that has received an unmodified audit opinion every year since 1986.
