Marine Resources Commission

The Marine Resources Commission (MRC) manages saltwater fishing and associated habitat, for both recreational and commercial species. Established in 1875 as the Virginia Fish Commission, the Marine Resources Commission is one of the oldest agencies in Virginia state government.

MRC manages the state's submerged bottom lands, tidal wetlands, sand dunes and beaches in order to preserve and protect Virginia's natural resources and the habitat that saltwater fisheries depend on.
