The Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) focuses on the movement of people and goods throughout the Commonwealth, with the primary areas of activity being rail, public transportation, and commuter services.

Agency Info

With six Northeast Regional intercity passenger rail trains originating in Virginia daily, and over 20 stops in the Commonwealth, Amtrak can get you where you need to go. Virginia Railway Express provides commuter rail service from the Northern Virginia suburbs along the I-66 and I-95 corridors to downtown Washington, D.C.
